Last week we started a series of guides on Certifications. The idea behind starting this series came from the fact that while almost everyone out there will recommend doing a certification while you are waiting for your EAD to arrive, no one actually tells us which one would be helpful.
A lot of you appreciated the importance and the timelines of it. Thank you for all the motivation. For those, who haven't yet read that Guide. Here it is: "Free Digital Marketing Certifications To Restart Your Career"
For all those who are reading our Guide for the first time, we'd like to inform you that we publish a new Guide every Monday. Some of our previous Guides are:
You can also check out all our Guides here
We also publish a blog once a month. You can find all our blogs here
The Guide from last week was a first in the series of Guides we have planned for Certifications. This week, we bring to you our next topic - Data Analytics & Data Sciences.
Why a Certification of Data Analytics?
As per a lot of experts, demand for "armchair data scientists" i.e. those without formal qualifications or degree in the subject with the skills and knowledge to analyze data in their everyday work, is predicted to outstrip demand for traditionally qualified data scientists in the coming years.
This means that a lot of people who have had a gap in employment can upgrade their skills and knowledge in this field and make themselves ready for the job market. But the question arises, - What Certifications should we look at to improve our chances of employability?
The internet is filled with resources and courses for any subject on this earth. Which is why it becomes imperative for Immigrants like us to find and complete our certifications in the correct course.
The idea is to have certifications in our Resume that are recognized industry wide.
Below, we have shortlisted some of the most sought after Analytics courses that will improve your chance of scoring a job as well as will keep you updated with the requisite skills. Please note that we've listed only the basic ones for beginners (barring a few). This should be helpful for those who are just starting out.
Note: Not all courses are free. Some might require you to pay some fees. However, think of these fees as an investment towards your future.
Top Data analytics certifications

Data Science - Harvard
This actually is not a certification. But this is one of the best resource out there to learn about Data Science.
All of the class materials and lectures for Harvard's data science course are made freely available online, so they can be studied at your own pace. You may not end up with a degree from one of the world's most prestigious universities, but the course is detailed and technical enough to make an expert of you by the end.
The course is part of a data science degree and constructed for students who have prior knowledge of, or are also studying, core fields such as programming, Maths, and statistics. However, there are enough free resources out there on those subjects to make this a viable option for those outside of academia, if you are dedicated enough.
Conclusion
We hope that this information is useful to all of you. Like we said, these are not the only certifications available out there. But these are industry recognized and will definitely help you in the long run. Do let us know in the comments below if you liked this Guide and what other topics do you want us to create a Guide on.
